Schools

We have been working with schools since 2008 to provide immersive educational tours which transport the classroom to Australia’s significant battlefields. We are honoured to have led hundreds of school children to the battlefields of the Western Front, Gallipoli, Vietnam, Darwin and more.

We tailor battlefield experiences to suit your educational tour’s needs – whether you are planning a student and teacher-chaperone tour; school community tour with students and parents; co-curricular tour to enrich education across different disciplines; or a combined-schools tour.

We work collaboratively to engage your group ahead of your tour, and can assist with providing feedback and input for risk management, as well as pre-tour information and education – including providing detailed itineraries, posters/flyers, videos, Zoom information presentations, documentaries and podcasts to highlight the history and stories from the battlefields to be visited, and more.

MMBT has significant experience as an official travel provider for Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory and New South Wales Premier’s Anzac Prize student tours.

We are focussed on learning outcomes offering unique educational experiences and optional extension activities, such as:

Talbot House 'everyman's club' living museum immersive educational program - designed collaboratively between Mat McLachlan and Talbot House, and available exclusively to MMBT
Mission Polygon Wood - students undertake activity tasks in Polygon Wood to make their way through the wood via four locations, learning stories of fallen soldiers as they go
Students as Historians and Guides - pre-tour students research a soldier and/or a landmark to be visited, and on tour students present to the group when at their relevant site
Uncover all perspectives of the battlefield history in your chosen destination - learn stories from all sides, and of all those involved - soldiers, nurses, civilians. We incorporate visits to sites that bring the history of all perspectives to life.
Cultural Engagement – meet/interview local people, undertake a cooking or art class to deepen cultural engagement, and more!

Special Interest Groups

Our Private Group Tours are ideal for groups of 10 or more people – whether you are a group of family, friends, sports club, history group, RSL members, or any other collective! This provides the ideal opportunity to explore the battlefields at your own pace and include visits to any additional sites of particular significance to your group, in the company of your expert Historian.

Included in all our tours are immersive experiences not offered by any other operator, such as:

Participate in the Last Post Service at the Menin Gate - laying a wreath on behalf of your group, or coordinate a commemorative service at a site of significance for your group
Obtain the key to the Ypres Ramparts and explore inside
Visit Château de Bertangles on the Western Front – Sir John Monash’s headquarters behind the lines
Explore the underground city of Naours on the Western Front, a cave system where the Anzacs left their names in graffiti
Go off-the-beaten track in Gallipoli walking in the footsteps of the Anzacs to sites seldom visited: from Shrapnel Valley up to Plugges Plateau to 4th Battallion Parade Ground Ceremony; and uphill to the Second Ridge along trenches to Johnston’s Jolly
